Summary[edit]
English: Before the formation of the Isthmus of Panama there was only one tropical ocean, this Central American seaway, was a body of water that communicated the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean, which once separated North America from South America. There is also a weak marine current that came from the Atlantic Ocean, from east to west flowing through the Caribbean and the north coast of South America entering the Gulf of Mexico, and part of that current entering the Pacific Ocean. The formation of the isthmus found significant changes in ocean currents, including the creation of the Gulf Stream, which led to warmer temperatures in northern Europe and the formation of a large ice sheet across North America.
